Meet Safari Thomas 🐾

THE AUTHOR'S STORY

Children’s Author | Planet Protector | Lamb Gang Creator 🐑

Hello, I’m Safari, a children’s author, nature lover, and the proud creator of The Lamb Gang series!

I was born in the centre of the U.K. (some say Tolkien’s Middle-earth!), and once upon a time, I studied Law and earned my degree with honours. But it turns out I much prefer storytelling to law books. These days, I spend my time writing magical, meaningful tales that inspire young readers to care for our planet and its incredible creatures.

My stories are full of fun, friendship, and a little eco-magic, all designed to help children feel like they can be superheroes for nature. I especially love creating inclusive stories for early readers, including those who are dyslexic or reluctant to pick up a book. Every child deserves a story that speaks to them.

The idea for The Lamb Gang literally jumped out at me in a meadow on the shores of Loch Ness, where a group of cheeky lambs and a mysterious monster sparked the first adventure.

Since then, The Lamb Gang has been on a mission to look after the planet, one rhyming, rollicking rescue at a time! 🌎

🌿 Let’s raise a generation of little eco-heroes — one story at a time.

THE ILLUSTRATOR'S MAGIC

You have probably never heard of me; Illustrators can be an anonymous bunch. I have enjoyed a creative career as a designer, illustrator, and artist for over forty years now. Initially, I worked for publishers, including BBC magazines, Oxford University Press, Historic Royal Palaces, Harper Collins, and RSPB. I now produce work for my own business selling my original paintings and prints. Independent publishers occasionally approach me with their projects, and I am usually unconvinced as these days available time is a big issue.

It was the author’s belief in the simple message that remains central to her book, matched with her enthusiasm for my work that got me interested and excited in creating the artwork for the ‘Lamb Gang’. Conservation, education, the environment and especially the impact we have as human beings on birds and animals are subjects that continue to interest me creatively. I hope you like the pictures. I certainly enjoyed drawing them.

THE LOCH NESS MONSTER

About Nessie

Nessie, the legendary creature of Loch Ness, was born in the deep waters of the Scottish Highlands. She grew up with a loving family of underwater creatures and shoreline animals. From a young age, Nessie admired the beauty of her home and learned from her parents to respect all living beings and take care of their environment.

As she grew, Nessie became a caring protector of Loch Ness. One day, she saw humans throwing litter into her beloved home. This made her curious and determined to stop pollution.

Nessie is intelligent, kind, and fiercely protective of her animal friends. She dreams of connecting with humans to help them understand the harm litter causes. Nessie wants to teach everyone, especially children, about keeping our planet clean. Known for being elusive, many people try to catch a glimpse of Nessie, but she prefers to stay hidden from humans. However, she is not shy around the sheep she protects and cares for. With the help of the Lamb Gang, Nessie is on a mission to save Loch Ness and make it a cleaner place for all. She believes that by working together, humans and animals can protect the environment and create a better world.
